One-on-One Coaching

Coaching & Counsel

Your story matters, maybe more than you realize! Who your caregivers were and the environment of your formative years play a significant role in your style of relating and coping mechanisms. We have areas of our lives we cannot see and need the kindness and curiosity of others to help us see the truth. We create a space for you to be heard, seen, known and loved. Our style of counseling is focused on a non-judgement exploration of your feelings, hidden trauma, self-image, and false narratives that have developed over time. Humans work hard to cover their shame - exhaustively and unsuccessfully sweeping things under a rug. We are extending the care that Jesus offers us when He says, “Come to me all you who are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest.”

Maybe you have found yourself in a leadership or ministry role in need of guidance. Ryan’s 20 years of church ministry and pastoral care has equipped him to offer you empathetic wisdom. He will show how the gospel equips you to look at pain more honestly in order for the resurrection to have power in every situation you face. To the degree you understand your own life story is to the degree the narrative of the Bible will come to life!

Story Groups

These 8 week workshops or Weekend workshops are designed to help you discover stories in your life that have shaped the way you relate to others, handle disappointment or conflicts, cope with stress, and experience your emotions. We all long to be known. We are best known, and our life circumstances are best seen, in the company of others. Story Groups are a profound experience that invite you to step deeply into the themes of your life within the context of a supportive, safe and facilitated environment. We will coach you to write two particular stories from childhood that involve trauma of any degree.  We will facilitate and train group participants how to engage each story with kindness, care and empathy.  In a group, each individual has the opportunity to get care while also learning to be a better listener to others.  Healing and restoration occur when we courageously explore our stories of pain and harm. We also gain wisdom, curiosity and insight when we hold one another’s stories.

Story Workshop changed the way I listen and hold space for other people’s stories of pain and suffering. Instead of trying to make people feel better in the moment, I have learned to sit with their pain, acknowledge it, and just be with them in it. Story Workshop has also helped me to be more honest about my relationships- setting boundaries, naming heartache, and letting Jesus enter into the painful places for healing.
